Warning...picture overload!

Since its been quite awhile since i updated my blog, i thought i would write a quick update and post lots of pictures of our summer! First with Lukas, he has changed so much this summer not only is he very tall and thin, but he has challenged me in way i never knew he could. He has pushed every button he can push and we have had quite a few trips out of stores kicking and screaming. He also also can turn from a extremely hard headed 3 year old to the most loving little boy. He rarely wakes up grumpy and always lays on me and cuddles every morning and tells everyone constantly how much he loves them. He also loves and i mean LOVES his little sisters, he protects them, he cuddles with them, he wakes them up from naps just to see them. In return they smile at him like no one else :) He is also starting preschool in 2 weeks i am excited for him but nervous at the same time....i'll blog about how that goes when he starts!

Lukas and his daddy!

being cute!

Lukas loving his sisters :)

Getting into mommy's makeup lol

Loving the fountain at the local park!

Ahhh, to be a kids again...

Avery and Kyla have changes so much. Both girls have rolled from tummy to back, Avery only once but Kyla has done it numerous times! Their physical therapist is very impressed with them both and feels that they are just amazing from what they have come from being born so early. Both girls talk and talk and smile and laugh! Kyla is a mommys girl through and through, she cries for alot of people but as soon as she is in my arms she is fine (can't say i hate that lol) Avery is a mommys girl but will smile and be with content with alot of people. Both girls sleep through the night!!!! usually anywhere between 6-9 hours! i am SO happy with this and they are both in their own room now and are doing great together! They were weighed at 5 months (about 2 1/2 weeks ago) and Kyla was 11 pounds 6 ounces and Avery was 10 pounds 14 ounces, what a long way from 2 pounds they have come

i couldn't be happier with my 3 kiddos and i am SO SO blessed to be their momma!

Both in mid-roll! (kyla, Avery)

Happy 4th of July!

we had a fairly boring relaxed holiday! we did the usual go to my parents have a nice dinner then wait till its dark for the fun to begin. Usually my mom's neighborhood has a big get together, but not this year. I was all excited to show my girls off in their cute red, white and blue dresses but oh well next year they will be walking around and will be just as cute then :) Of course my camera battery died before i could get Lukas to cooperate so i didn't just favor the babies, they just happened to be the only ones to cooperate for pictures (well Avery did anyway lol) my sister got alot of cute ones of Lukas so when she sends me them i will post them.

hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday!

some fun summer pictures...

I don't have to much to report, things are busy busy busy for us at home! 3 kids, 3 and under is alot of work. i feel more than blessed to be the mother to all of my babies. These beautiful baby girls are much harder than Lukas was but through everything to get them here and healthy and home i am more than willing to let them sleep on my chest or in my bed if thats what makes them happy. Both girls get their 4month shots next week (i am NOT excited about that!) we had them weighed about a week and a half ago and Avery was 8 pounds 6 ounces and Kyla was 8 pounds 9 ounces so i am hoping they can continue to gain weight! Avery is STILL on oxygen, poor baby! she does okay while she is awake but once she falls asleep she dips way down hopefully just a few short weeks and she will be off it as well :)

we have had some not very exciting summer days so far lol i guess thats what you get with 2 newborns who can't go very many places so i have had to make things like washing the car exciting for Lukas!

We are full term....

We celebrated yesterday the girls are officially full term. May 24, 2009 was my official due date and instead of celebrating with brand new babies, we have 3 month old babies (but hey they are brand new to me i have only had them all to myself a few weeks lol) So as of today the girls are 1 day old according to their adjusted age. The doctors will go by their adjusted age for everything developmentally until they reach between 2 and 3 and catch up to their peers. Both girls are doing great, they are eating good and sleep ing really good. i am actually able to get between 4 to 5 hours between feeding in the night time. They are also both over 7 pounds. Avery is 7.2 and Kyla is 7.4. Also by the middle of this week Kyla will probably be off oxygen so we will FINALLY have a oxygen free baby. Avery is just a little behind and will probably be on it a few more week.

Lukas is doing great with them. He is such a good big brother he always lays with them and kisses them and asks constantly if he can pet them lol. We have seen a few jealousy things here and there but nothing major. He is starting preschool in August so i am totally looking forward to him getting back into the swing of school and making friends that will be going to the same elementary school as him! Life is crazy, but i wouldn't have it anyother way. We are also excited that Daddy has the rest of the week off with us before i have to do this on my own lol! stay tuned after that things might get really hectic!

We are finally a family of 5! Avery came home today after 79 days in the NICU. i was much more relaxed bringing her home than i was with Kyla, i think thats because i knew what i was in for. She is adjusting very well but i can tell Kyla has been home longer. Both are still on oxygen and probably will be for awhile, i hope not that long though its a PAIN with all the cords. i also have a monitor for Avery mainly by my request because i am so paranoid but i am not sure i will use it. It is truely amazing to look at both my baby girls laying next to me and i still can't get over how weird it is to look at MY identical twins! Lukas is totally in love with his sisters. we pulled up to my mom's to get him and he came running out saying "i have 2 babies now, i have 2 babies now!" We even let him hold both at the same time. It was bittersweet to walk out of the NICU for the last time, as happy as i am to have both girls home i grew to love the nurses especially their primary nurse who had them from day one, and even made sure she was not there today so she didn't have to say goodbye. i would look forward to going to the NICU not only to see my babies but to sit and chat with the nurses about anything from my girls to jon and kate lol! That chapter is closed and now my chapter begins with them, the one where they are my responsibility....ready or not we begin this exciting chapter together as a family of 5!

i started this blog over a year ago and havent done much with it so i decided to start it up again and let everyone know who is interested what my family is up to and how we have grown from a family of 3 to a family of 5, we welcomed identical twin girls on Feb. 25, 2009 at only 27 weeks 3 days gestation, they came into this world 13 weeks to early but are here, they are strong and thriving! My oldest is my son Lukas is 3 and will always be a momma's boy he is the light of my life and i am so lucky and blessed to have him. Our girls are Avery who is the oldest by about 30 seconds was born weighing 2 pounds 4 ounces and our youngest Kyla was 2 pounds 6 ounces. We spent LONG days and nights in the NICU watching them make slow but steady progress. After 69 days Kyla is now home with us and her big brother and Avery is still in the NICU but hopefully by the end of the week both will be home. The girls were born so early because of the type of twins they were. They were monoamniotic-monochorionic meaning the were in the same sack and shared the same placenta. This is a very rare type of twin resulting in only about 1% of all twin pregnancies. I will post at a later time the story of their birth and our long long 10 weeks in the NICU! for now i just wanted to share some pictures of my 3 beautiful children!
